What an Umbraco Platinum Partner Means for You

Umbraco Platinum Partner What it means?

Platinum is Umbraco's top partnership tier. A tier on its own tells you very little. Here's what it should change for the organization that owns the platform, the questions to ask any partner, and the six commitments we make to every client we support.

If you own an Umbraco platform, you'll see the same badges on almost every partner's website. Silver, Gold, Platinum. They look reassuring, but they don't answer the questions that matter to the person responsible for the platform. Will this team keep my site supported? Can they connect it to the rest of our systems? Will they still be here for the next upgrade?

We recently became an Umbraco Platinum Partner. Rather than just put up a new badge, we want to explain what the tier actually is, what it should mean for you, and how to check whether any partner, including us, lives up to it.

What an Umbraco Platinum Partner is

Umbraco runs a partner program with three tiers: Silver, Gold and Platinum. According to Umbraco's partner program, Platinum is reserved for highly specialized agencies that focus on enterprise projects, cloud implementations and strategic collaboration with Umbraco HQ.

Each tier has a minimum certification requirement. Platinum partners need at least one active Umbraco Certified Master or two active Certified Experts. Certifications last two years, so partners have to keep renewing them to keep the tier.

Platinum also brings practical benefits: sales and technical support from Umbraco, access to services like code reviews and hypercare, co-marketing, and greater visibility to organizations looking for a partner.

What Platinum should mean for the platform owner

From the buyer's side, a Platinum partner should give you four things.

1. Certified people on your platform, not just on the website. A minimum certification count across a company doesn't guarantee who works on your project. Ask who will lead yours and what their certification level is.

2. A supported path, always. Umbraco has a regular release cycle with long-term support (LTS) versions. Umbraco 17 is the current LTS release, built on .NET 10 and supported until late 2028. A good partner plans your upgrades before the deadline, not after.

3. A shorter route to answers When something goes wrong at the platform level, a Platinum partner has established channels with Umbraco HQ. That should shorten the time between a problem and a fix.

4. Continuity. Enterprise platforms live for years. The partner who builds yours should be ready to support, upgrade and extend it, and to tell you honestly when something isn't worth doing.

Our six commitments to every client

A badge is something we were given. These commitments are something you can hold us to.

  1. A certified Umbraco lead on every engagement.

  2. No platform left behind. Every platform we support has a written LTS roadmap, reviewed twice a year.

  3. Senior access, always. Every enterprise client has a named architect and a direct line to our leadership.

  4. Documented delivery. Our processes are ISO 9001 governed, and architecture decisions are recorded and handed over.

  5. Fixed-scope first steps. Upgrade readiness and platform health assessments at a published fixed price.

  6. We give back. A set number of team days every year goes to Umbraco open source and community work.

Eight questions to ask any Umbraco partner

Whichever partner you choose, these questions will tell you more than any badge.

  • Who will lead my project, and what is their Umbraco certification level?

  • Can you show me a project like mine with similar size, integrations and complexity with measured results?

  • What is your upgrade plan for my platform over the next 24 months?

  • How do you handle integrations with systems like Dynamics 365, Salesforce or SAP? Can I see an architecture diagram from a real project?

  • What happens after launch? What are your support tiers, response times and escalation routes?

  • How do you protect our data and access? Which certifications cover your delivery, and can I see them?

  • How do you test accessibility and performance? Which standards do you work to?

  • What do you contribute to Umbraco? Packages, documentation, community work and talks show how deeply a team knows the platform.

A strong partner answers these quickly and with evidence. If the answers are vague, the badge isn't doing the work.

If you are on Umbraco 13, the clock is running

Umbraco 13 reaches end of life on 14 December 2026. After that, it no longer receives security patches. For organizations still running v13, or anything older, now is the time to plan the move to Umbraco 17 LTS.

The upgrade isn't a simple version bump. Moving from 13 to 17 involves the new back office, changes to custom extensions and packages, and testing every integration. The earlier you scope it, the more options you have.

Our Upgrade Readiness Assessment is a fixed-scope, fixed-price review delivered in two weeks. You get:

  • An audit of your current version, packages, customizations and integrations

  • A clear upgrade path with risks ranked by impact

  • An effort and cost estimate

  • Interim options if you can't upgrade before the deadline

You can check your upgrade readiness test before time flies
